Peppercorn Ceremony (Update: April 30, 2013)
The annual peppercorn ceremony was held at Kings Square (St George) with full fanfare. Hundreds came to watch the pomp and pageantry despite cloudy weather. This was the day when the Old State House was handed over to the Freemasons for a rent of one peppercorn. As per the centuries old tradition, the Governor accepts the peppercorn on this annual event which is accompanied by band and troops of Bermuda Regiment and parade by the Freemasons.
