As the name suggests, this is a guesthouse and is perched on the edge of a hill. It's an English style manor building which is located in Hamilton.
As you walk west from Hamilton Ferry terminal on Front street towards Pitts Bay road and then up the hill on a quiet street, you will reach this property in about 10 minutes.
So, it's an easy walk from the guesthouse down to center of Hamilton city. However, the property is located in a quiet and lush garden setting with a pool.
Amongst the guesthouses in the island, this is one of the upscale ones but won't break your wallet like some of the luxury hotels do. But you will enjoy a great property with very well appointed rooms and excellent service.
In line with a traditional upscale manor house, the furniture and interiors reflect classic designs and elegance. The rooms are spacious and all have nice private balconies or patio with chairs and table.
Some rooms overlook the pool, while some have partial view of Hamilton harbor.
Some rooms have kitchenettes. However all rooms have TV with cable channels, complimentary wi-fi, private phones allowing complimentary local calls, etc.
There are also in-room mini fridge, microwave oven, toaster, private safe, clock radio etc. There is no coffee maker which is perhaps the only downside.
There are rooms for two (King size bed or two single beds), for three and even four. Bathrooms have bathtubs with shower mixers. All rooms are air-conditioned.
Most rooms also have computer desks making it an attractive stay option for the business travelers as well. Rooms are clean and airy.
Complimentary toiletries are provided. Towels are provided for use in pool and visits to beaches. The south shore beaches are only 20-25 minute drive.
Continental breakfast is served which is included in the rates. Breakfast spread includes items such as tea/coffee, cereals, bread, homemade cakes, muffins, coffee cake, freshly baked pastries and also boiled eggs.
Breakfast is served between 7:30am to 9:30am and you can have it in the dining hall, by the pool side or take it to your room.
For lunch and dinner, you can either walk down to Front Street where there are plenty of eateries, or bring your food from a grocery, keep it in the mini fridge, and heat it up in the microwave when hungry.
There is a large well known grocery store (called
Miles Market) selling deli food within easy walking distance, located near Hamilton Princess Hotel. While the walk to downtown is easy, but there are no sidewalks. However you will get used to that soon.
The outdoor pool is quite nice, with greenery around and is well maintained. Chaise lounges are provided.
All staff and the owners are very friendly and take extra care to ensure that you have a pleasant stay here. There is a resident staff at night.
The owner is an avid golfer and offers a challenge for a round of golf in any course in the island of your choice and with an agreed handicap. If you win, they pay for your round. If you lose, you pay for yourself.
My overall opinion
This is an excellent guesthouse accommodation and suitable for both leisure and business travelers because of convenience of location, reasonable rates and upscale relaxing stay.
The ferry terminal is only 10-minute walk and so are the shops and restaurants in downtown Hamilton. The Bus Terminal is about 15-minute walk. The service is excellent, staff are all friendly and the property is maintained spotlessly.
Overall a great value for money and in my opinion, it is one of the best Bed and Breakfast accommodations in Bermuda in its category.
