Bermuda Water Temperature
Due to the nearby warm water of the Gulf Stream, Bermuda's sea temperature remains moderate almost all through the year rising well above 80s (°F) in the summers. However in winter months (December through March) the temperature does drop to 60s (°F) and that makes it quite uncomfortable for swimming or other water activities unless you wear wet suits. Note that the average surface water temperature in Bermuda remains couple of degrees higher than average air temperature.
May through October are the summer months. The water temperature usually climbs to the highest levels in August (to nearly 85°F). The average water temperature in the summers varies between 75 to 85°F. On May 24, when
Bermuda Day festival is held in the island, many islanders traditionally take a dip into the water for the first time in the year. It really marks the beginning of summer time in Bermuda.
December through March is the winter season and the water temperature in Bermuda drops (averaging around 68°F). February and March are usually the two coolest months. However the water visibility increases dramatically. So if you try diving or snorkeling in Bermuda with wet suits during winter, you will get great views of marine life, coral reefs and shipwrecks.
