Bermuda Montessori School
Founded in the year 1986, Bermuda Montessori School is a private nursery and preschool that offers early education through the Montessori method to children between the ages of 18 months to 4 years. It was later bought by Edward (junior) and Julie Durrant in 2003, who then took the school to the next level. It was then that the school was divided to become both Somersfield Academy and Montessori Preparatory School.

The school has more than forty students with about 6 full time and 2 part time staff members. Although the school is open for children from 8am - 5.30pm, the primary instruction program runs from 9am-12pm. Parents have the option to go for a Half-day program ( 8am-12pm), Full-day program (8am-4pm) or an Afterschool care program (4pm-5.30pm).
Children have a Toddler Class (12 - 20 months), Lower kindergarten (for age 20 - 30 months and an Upper kindergarten (for age 2.5 - 4 years) program. The focus is on developing a complex and sophisticated thought process as well as to make real world connections to classroom activities.
Children are allowed to learn and play in a calm and nurturing atmosphere where the school encourages each child to learn at their own level. Some of the extracurricular classes provided at the school are Spanish, music and PE.
The school encourages a multicultural classroom environment with children from all backgrounds and an equal number of boys and girls in each age group. The physical environment of the school too is calm and peaceful, nestled in the outskirts of Hamilton coupled with a unique garden setting.
