Homer's Cafe is named after a famous painter of Bermuda, Winslow Homer. It's located at the Masterworks Art Gallery at the
Botanical Garden.
At the
Masterworks Gallery, you will see a lot of artwork from Homer and many other great collections from local and foreign artists. The cafe, which has been opened in January 2011, gives an excellent option for breakfast and lunch while visiting the art gallery. It's run by Portuguese Bakery. The cafe serves daily snacks, breakfast and lunch.
If you plan to pack your lunch for picnic at the Botanical Garden, the cafe also provides lunch basket. However this needs to be ordered in advance. The cafe is locate right next to the beautiful Rose Garden of
Camden House within the garden area. During the summer months, there is also a seating provision under the Lily Pergola in the open terrace.
The cafe makes daily lunch specials. Here are some of the regular items that you will get at Homer's Cafe: breakfast sandwiches (scrambled eggs, bacon or ham etc), wraps (choice of roasted vegetables, jerk chicken etc for fillings).
And there are homemade beef or chicken pie, quiche (with choice of cheese, vegetables, ham etc), salads of different types, panini with sliced roast turkey, roasted beef sandwich, soups etc. Most of these dishes are available gluten free.
Beverages include coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sodas and water.
Other than indoor dining, there is also an outdoor courtyard where you can sit. You also get access to the lounge below which has been converted from a water tank. It's a good place to relax, have a cup of coffee and snacks.
Although the cafe is located inside Masterworks Art Museum which has an entry fee, you don't need to pay admission fee to get into the cafe...you can come to the cafe without going to the museum (the $5 is to get into the museum).
And in fact, if you dine at the cafe you can get a cheaper admission of $2 to the museum on that particular day.
