Seahorse Grill Bermuda
$$$, Bermudian/International
Update: Seahorsegrill has closed down.
Located at the
Elbow Beach Hotel in Bermuda, Seahorse Grill restaurant’s theme is global flavors in fusion with local cuisine. They have recently updated the menu and you will now find a lot of innovative dishes along with newly introduced grill section.
The inside of the restaurant is quite traditional but classy with Bermuda Limestone walls and ceilings with wooden beams. There is also a section where lovely artwork and paintings from local artists are displayed. There is an open terrace overlooking the Elbow Beach and the ocean, and is partially covered with canopies. This is an excellent place to dine al fresco on a summer evening under the starry nights.
The chef Tomasz Tabor is originally from Poland and has had extensive experience in the European cuisine before coming to Bermuda. Under his directions and culinary expertise, the restaurant has won many awards including Bermuda Gourmet Getaway People’s Choice Awards in 2008. Seahorse has a well stocked bar as well and boasts of the selections of wine.
So what kind of food should you try out here? For starters, the scallops are delicious and served pan seared with two pieces one inclining on the other and dressed with greens. They look fabulous. Well there are many other delectable appetizers including lobsters with mango.
In main courses, the fresh local fish is probably the best bet if you like fish or seafood. Try out pan-seared yellowtail snapper with butternut squash, or one of the grilled swordfish, wahoo, or salmon. If you like meat, some of the great dishes to choose from would be grilled dry-aged Angus beef and blackened stripped loin. Another great menu item is the Foie gras au torchon with cognac cherries and chocolate brioche. In desserts, milk shake and donuts (with Coffee Ice Cream, Hazelnut Mousse) are some of the best choices.
The restaurant serves breakfast, dinner and Sunday brunch. They accept credit cards. Dress code is smart casual. Reservation is recommended.
