Rustico Restaurant Bermuda

Rustico is a locals' favorite located very close to the
Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo. So if you are planning a visit to the aquarium, which is a top attraction in Bermuda, Rustico is a convenient place to have your lunch (only a 3-minute walk).
The owner Odilio Angeli, who also owns the Primavera Restaurant, decided to open this one after observing that there was no good eatery close to the Aquarium. The inside of the restaurant has a red and yellow hues. There is also an outside seating area from where you get nice view of the
Flatts Village.

During the winter, a tented room at the limestone cliff-side is heated up with lamps. Overall the atmosphere is quite casual and you will find many locals frequenting this place. Rustico is well known for their thin crusted crispy pizzas. The pizzas are good value for money, and so are the home made burgers and the fish sandwiches.
For soup, try out the Bermuda Fish Chowder. Although probably not the best in the island, it’s prepared quite well here. There are some great fish dishes prepared by the chef using local fish.
The owner often gets day’s fresh fish from the fishermen taking full advantage of the restaurant’s proximity to Flatts Inlet (a water area).
The rockfish with a black sea ginger sauce is one of the favorites here and listed as a special along with few other dishes with Asian twist. There are other standard Italian dishes served including different types of pastas, Linguini and Fettucine.

If you like seafood, try out the Italian specialty the seafood pasta, or pasta pescatore. The grilled meat and roasted lamb chops are quite good as well and nicely flavored.
Some of the other popular entrees include tenderloin of beef with Gorgonzola cheese and port wine sauce, grilled and sliced sirloin steak with arugola, shaved parmesan and porcini mushrooms, tenderloin of lamb marinated with garlic, olive oil and fresh herbs, salmon basted with olive oil, lime juice, soy sauce, cilantro and ginger, and roasted half duck with honey mustard sauce.
For its small size, Rustico serves fairly good range of wine. Credit cards are accepted. Dress code is smart casual. Reservation is recommended.
Update May 2016: Rustico has moved to a new location at
Brightside Guest Apartments in Flatts (few hundred yards away from its original location). This is a bigger space with provision for outdoor dining. The earlier space has been taken up on lease by the owners of
Devil's Isle Restaurant of Hamilton City. They plan to run a family friendly restaurant here (with kids playing area) with a menu and wine list similar to that of Devil's Isle.
