Cafe Gio Bermuda
$$, Bermudian
UPDATE: Cafe Gio has closed down and has been replaced by
Wahoo's Bistro, a new restaurant specializing in seafood.
Cafe Gio gives an excellent option of waterside dining in St. George Bermuda. Although there are inside seating which is limited, the back side of the restaurant opens out to an outdoor terrace overlooking the beautiful St. George's harbor. The restaurant is quite popular to the locals and if you want to avoid tourist rush during the high season in St. George, this is the place to come. There is an ice cream parlor on the front side of the restaurant.
While this is not a budget restaurant, the service and the food is really nice, and combined with the great atmosphere plus the view of the harbor, it more than compensates for the price you pay. We would often take our lunch here whenever we are in St. George.
There are plenty of fish, pasta, chicken, and steak dishes offered by the restaurant. Here are some of our favorites in Cafe Gio: Fish Chowder as a starter is great if you like a soup made out of ground fish head to begin with. Otherwise try the crispy calamari with mango salsa.
Cafe Gio Bermuda
I had yellow fin tuna once, which was cooked perfectly. Some of the other great main courses here are grilled Angus strip loin steaks served with garlic mashed potatoes, or grilled local rockfish or pan-seared wahoo with coconut curry sauce. They have many other fish items and all of them are quite nice. Some of our favorite desserts here includes molten chocolate cake (chef's one of the innovative preparations) and crème brûlée. If you are looking for some quick bites, you get some snack items here as well including Pizzas.
Open Hours
Cafe Gio is open from Monday through Saturday: 11:30am to 2:30 p.m for lunch, and daily 6pm to 10 pm for dinner. The restaurant is usually closed during the low season (Jan - Feb).
They accept credit cards. Reservations are recommended on the weekends.
