Review of 9 Beaches Resort Bermuda
Category: $$-$$$ Location: Sandys Parish
UPDATE: 9 Beaches resort had closed down in May 2010. A major redevelopment is awaited.
9 Beaches Resort is a casual, eco-friendly resort located at Daniel’s Head, on the western tip of Bermuda. During our stay here, we felt that this resort is really well suited for young couples and active people looking for a peaceful calm place to stay.
If you are looking for sheer luxury, then this is not likely to be the right choice. Spread over 18 waterfront acres, the resort features 84 private soft-sided cabanas, each resting on stilts and offering spectacular ocean views.
Each cabana has wooden deck floor, a water-facing veranda and a small bathroom with shower. The living area has a queen bed, a futon sofa that doubles as a place to sleep, a table, and two chairs. Other amenities in the cabanas include electricity, ceiling fan, safe, drying rack for wet bathing suits, coffee maker, refrigerator, alarm clock, umbrella etc.
The best of the cabanas at 9 Beaches Resort Bermuda are named ‘Top Banana’ and have spectacular view of the Ocean. They are spread along the coastline. Some of the cabanas are built over the water and are connected to the land by a boardwalk. These special cabanas have glass windows on the floor so that you can watch the corals and marine life from your room - an experience similar to glass bottom boats.
The main restaurant of 9 Beaches Resort Bermuda is Hi-Tide. It's open for breakfast and dinner, and offers an international menu.
One of the big plus at the 9-beaches is that the restaurant is really good. Although the service is not probably the fastest, the restaurant staffs are very nice and charming. The menu is quite innovative and there are special preparations every night.
Portions are also significantly large and prices quite reasonable. This really helps a lot because there are hardly any other restaurants at this quiet part of Bermuda.
Dark ‘n’ Stormy’s beach bar and grill offers beverages and light cuisine for lunch. 9 Beaches Resort Bermuda also offers a mobile dining car that delivers snack, meals, and drinks throughout the resort. You can call the A-La Carte service on the free cell phone provided, and your order will be brought to you.
Facilities at 9 Beaches Resort Bermuda include
Several private beaches
An all-weather tennis court
Watersports and Dive shop
Outdoor swimming pool
Playground
Bikes and scooters
Gym, a guest lounge with TV and complimentary internet access
As I mentioned earlier, this resort having cottages that are spread over the ocean water is really meant for people who want to avoid the crowd and enjoy the scenic beauty of Bermuda waters in a quiet environment. View of the sunset from the cabanas is mind blowing. You will also hear the ocean water crashing below your cabana.
However, once it gets dark and the restaurants are closed, there is not much activities here. Your choices could be to spend the evening over a bottle of wine while looking at the ocean, or read a book or plan for the next day and such.
The resort offers 4 and 5 night mid-week all-inclusive packages that are 15% lower than the regular rates. Check out the details here:
